A special feature of the Salzburg Christmas market is the traditional Salzburg tower blowing, when the Salzburg tower blowers play Christmas tunes from three towers around Residenzplatz every Thursday and Advent Saturday at 18.30:XNUMX p.m.

An incomparable experience.

The lights are dimmed, the people become quieter and a unique atmosphere surrounds the Residenzplatz when Christmas sounds can be heard from 3 towers.

Young tower players on Wednesday
On Wednesday at 18.00 p.m. the Young Tower Blowing Festival with young ensembles from the Musikum Salzburg will take place on Cathedral Square.

“Every year, our tower brass band brings together the best brass players in Salzburg, who perform their Christmas tunes from three Salzburg towers. For everyone who finds there is too much going on in the city on Saturdays, there is also the tower blowing every Thursday,” says chairman Haider happily.

Included are, among others, the Maria Almer Alphorn Players, the Leopoldskroner Baroque Wind Ensemble and the Pongau Wind Players.

The traditional Salzburg Tower Blowing was founded in 1952 by Tobi Reiser and has been organized by the Salzburg Christmas Market Association since 2008.

Quote from Karin Schierhuber, folk culture representative for the city of Salzburg: “We are pleased about the partnership with the organizers of the Salzburg Christmas market. Many folk culture and customs events, such as the daily choir singing in front of the cathedral, the tower blowing, and the Perchten at the beginning of the Rauhnächte would no longer take place to this extent and to this quality without our joint efforts.”
