The traditional Salzburg tower blowing was founded in 1952 by Tobi Reiser and has been organised by the Salzburg Christmas Market Association since 2008.
The lights are dimmed, the people become quieter and a unique atmosphere surrounds the Residenzplatz when Christmas sounds can be heard from 3 towers.

„Every year, our tower blowing brings together the best brass players in Salzburg, who perform their Christmas tunes from three Salzburg towers. For all those who find Saturday too busy in the city, the tower blowing also takes place every Thursday,“ says Mr Haider.

Many folk culture and traditional events, such as the daily choir singing in front of the cathedral, the tower blowing and the Perchten at the beginning of the Rauhnächte, would no longer take place to this extent and in this quality without our joint efforts.“

Young tower wind players on Wednesday
Am Mittwoch, 25.November und 02., 09.,16. und 23. Dezember 2026 findet am Domplatz das Junge Turmblasen mit Nachwuchsensembles des Musikum Salzburg statt.
The Maria Alm alphorn players, the Leopoldskroner Barockbläserensemble and the Pongauer Bläser will be among those taking part.
